Rights management
The National Library of Australia plays a key role in supporting learning, scholarship and research, and in the preservation of the nation's intellectual heritage. The Copyright Act 1968 provides the legislative framework under which the Library receives material on legal deposit to build the collections and makes available material from its collections to members of the public.
Copyright law in Australia is under review. The Copyright Law Review Committee has been asked to inquire into and report on a number of issues relating to copyright and the review and simplification of the Copyright Act 1968. The National Library of Australia; the Australian Digital Alliance (ADA); the Australian Libraries Copyright Committee (LCC) and Australian Government Libraries Information Network are among those who have made submissions.
