The Library offers phone reference services for those who cannot visit in person, or are anticipating visiting. We will accept a limited number of phone requests for material to be placed on reserve from registered readers.
The service is staffed between the hours of 9.00 am - 5.00 pm (AEST) Monday to Saturday. You are welcome to phone and leave a message at other times: it will not always be possible for staff to immediately assist as they may be helping readers onsite. When leaving a message, please provide your name, a contact phone number and the time of your call and we will phone you back as soon as we can.
The types of queries we can answer may be as simple as a request for the details of a publication or holdings of particular material or may be of a more complex nature such as a request for an act or other legal material. We do not provide information for school assignments, quizzes or competitions.
While we will endeavour answer all queries received, we encourage you to use your local resources first (e.g. your school, public, state/territory or university library). The Australian Libraries Gateway can assist you to find a library in your local area.
